Principal’s Message

Welcome to Dream Lake Elementary School! Home of the Empowered Dragons!
Family,
Thank you for visiting our website. Here, you'll find important and helpful information about our school. You are encouraged to also stay connected with us on ParentSquare. We also share updates and celebrations on Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter). This year you can also expect a monthly newsletter which will be accessible via ParentSquare.
I am thrilled to begin my 10th year as Principal of Dream Lake Elementary! Over the years, we’ve made tremendous progress through our School Improvement efforts. Despite declining enrollment and an increase economically disadvantaged students, we proudly maintained a school grade of 'B'. More importantly, we have worked diligently to narrow achievement gaps, and this year, I am very proud to announce that Dream Lake Elementary once again has no identified achievement gaps across any student subgroup—including our students with disabilities. This means that every child we serve is learning!
We’re heading into a dynamic new year filled with innovation, creativity, and continued academic success. Our teachers are passionate about student learning and are ready to 'Ignite the Power' with all our learners.
Our grade level teams work interdependently to ensure that are afforded engaging, hands-on lessons that spark curiosity and deepen understanding.
Our school works through the four guiding questions of a professional learning community to ensure that 'all' students are learning.
Our Innovation Plan continues to focus on the integration of S.T.R.E.A.M.—Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics—both in the classroom and through after-school clubs. Our school-wide behavior plan is based on a house system which Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) model that promotes positive student behavior. All scholars have an opportunity to earn house points which fosters a sense of community, collaboration, and resiliency. At Dream Lake we state that we are Six Houses – One Family.
As parents and guardians, you are vital partners in our success. We ask for your continued support in creating a Dynamic Learning Experience (DLE) for your child. You can make a significant impact by:
Checking homework nightly
Communicating regularly with your child’s teacher
Monitoring grades and progress
Setting aside daily reading time at home
We also invite you to get involved by joining our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and School Advisory Council (SAC)—two meaningful ways to have a voice in the life and direction of our school. We meet every 2nd Tuesday of the month.
Our dynamic staff is ready to welcome you, and we are SUPER EXCITED to begin another successful school year! Let’s work together to empower our Dragons to build a future full of endless possibilities.
With pride and purpose,
Dr. Carol-Ann Clenton-Martin
